DaF (German as a foreign language) intensive courses for levels A1.1 of the SPRZ in September

 Are you looking for an intensive german course to take before the semester starts?

From 02nd -20th September 2024 the SPRZ (language centre of the OvGU) is hosting intensive courses for German level A1.1.

If you want to start with level A1.1, you can sign up via LSF.

You can register for the course at https://sprachenzentrum.ovgu.de/ from 05th to 18th August 2024.

2024 DAAD Award for Outstanding Achievements of International Students

The DAAD award honours one foreign student with outstanding academic achievements and exceptional social or intercultural commitment.

The candidate (no guest or exchange students) should usually be on an advanced level of his/her Bachelor's (at least second year) or Master's (at least second semester) degree. Postgraduates and PhD students can also be nominated.

The DAAD award is not a research award and it is not aimed at honouring a PhD project. It shall mainly be allocated to students or graduates who master their studies in their own right.

The award cannot be split up among several students. The prize money is 1,000 Euros.

The faculties have the right of nomination. Please nominate a qualified candidate by delivering a meaningful explanatory statement until 12 August 2024.

The nominations have to be submitted to the International Office. Further details will be given by the International Office: Ms. Böhning (Phone 67-58429) or Dr Genetzke (Phone 67-58514). Please check telephone numbers in the LSF as changing are pending.

Call for Applications for Financial Aids (STIBET Programme)

Within the scope of funding by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (AA), the International Office of the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg announces

6 financial aids for foreign students and doctoral candidates of the OVGU.

Funding Period: 3 – 5 months

Amount of the Scholarship: 550€ - max. 934€/month

Requirements:

-Acute social crisis, good academic achievements 

-Graduation within the next 12 months (We cannot consider students in their 1st and 2nd semester.)

Deadline: 10 July 2024

Application: 

- Informal application with detailed description of the social emergency, information about study progress and about previous funding of the study; 

- Curriculum vitae; 

- Students: transcript of records, and if applicable official registration of bachelor’s - or master’s thesis;

- Doctoral students: Statement by the academic supervisor on the doctoral candidate's application and with a prognosis for the doctoral degree; 

- Bank statements of the last 3 months from all accounts, if necessary with affidavit;

- If applicable: Proof of current employment (mini-jobs up to 520€ gross are permitted).

Call for Otto von Guericke Scholarship 2024 for Sponsoring an International Student

The state capital Magdeburg and OVGU Magdeburg allocate the Otto von Guericke Scholarship for the 22nd time in 2024.

The study-accompanying scholarship encompasses an endowment of the state capital Magdeburg in the amount of 6,000 Euros.

With this scholarship, an international student (no PhD student) of OVGU shall be sponsored specifically for the academic year 2024/25.

All academics have a right of nomination. International students can also apply by themselves. Nominations and applications can be submitted to the International Office by 12 August 2024.

During the semester our office hours will every week on Monday from 2-3pm and

Thursdays from 5-6pm. During these hours, members of the IKUS team will be available to answer any questions you may have, refund event deposits, etc.
